Manila Fast Food and Desserts
Skin crunches loudly in my mouth. Fat rendered into liquid form gushes over skin as I bite down. Tender fried pork bursting flavor throughout my mouth. Flavors and the various textures delight my senses. I grew up with Chinese style roasted pork but lechon kawali is an amazing example of how frying makes things taste better.

Hillcrest Farmers Market
In March my favorite strawberry stand will open and I’ll be able to get fresh, ripe, juicy strawberries. To tide me over I visited the Hillcrest Farmers Market to see if they had fresh strawberries. Hillcrest has a really big Farmers Market with a good variety of vendors over 2 large blocks so I thought my chances were good.

UCSD Farmer’s Market
UCSD. Place was like a small town back in the 80’s. Main food choices were the Pub or one of the cafeterias. Then in 1989 the Price Center was completed at fast food chains invaded. UCSD Farmers Market started up in 2004. Held every Tuesday from 10-2pm. I went every Tuesday to write up this post.
