Lilac Foods
After Easter Sunday lunch at Fat Ivors we left in search of fresh strawberries. Nice waitress mentioned the strawberry lady in front of Lilac Foods. We drove up and found the strawberry lady with strawberries.

Fat Ivors
Easter Sunday we drove to Fat Ivor’s in Valley Center with our friends Liang and Lisa. I enjoyed seeing the countryside with wildflowers in bloom and the greenery. It’s nice getting away from the freeways and skyscrapers.

Salt & Straw – One Paseo
When I was a kid Sue Bee made the most delicious honey I had ever tasted. Orange blossom honey had that honey sweetness with hints of orange blossom. I have never tasted such a delicious orange flavor till now.

Island Spice Restaurant
I was lucky enough to win a trip to Cayman Brac once. The island food was amazing. Fresh seafood was in abundance and the seasonings and preparation resulted in vivid flavors. I was looking forward to trying some island food at Island Spice.

Union BBQ
This neighborhood was where I was introduced to hickory smoked bbq. Jim’s Hickory Wood Bbq had delicious ribs and cinnamon ice cream. Jim’s is long gone but now Union Bbq has opened.

Cafe 21 – University Heights
Many times I have tried the lemonade from soda fountains. I never liked the Coke or Pepsi version. They don’t taste like real lemon juice and there is no lemon pulp. Cafe 21’s take on lemonade taste fresh squeezed. They have down the lemon flavor and the bits of lemon pulp. There is a little sweetness but not too much. Very refreshing.
