Island Style Cafe
I remember the summer trips to Hawaii. Lovely clear skies and white sand beaches. Hawaiian plate lunches and shaved ice for dessert closed out many wonderful days. San Diego has a good number of spots to get a plate lunch and shaved ice. Island Style Cafe is one of my favorite.

Island Style Cafe
Fluffy. Cold. Sweet Tiger’s Blood which is not as famous as it’s better known name Hawaiian Punch. Huge bowl of shaved ice is enough for 2 people. Playing on black sand beaches in Maui with my kid. Helicopter ride over Kauai. Eating malasadas from Leonard’s. Island Style Cafe has some…

Island Style Hawaii
Hawaii has some of the most delicious food I’ve eaten. I was excited to find a new Hawaiian place to eat at and visited several times to try a bunch of dishes. Island Style Mix lunch plate. Mochiko chicken had a delicious crunchy batter while the chicken was juicy and tender. I would order this again without the sesame sauce. Teriyaki beef was tender, juicy, and had a delicious sweet flavor. Pulehu short ribs was tender and juicy but I didn’t like the sea salt flavor. I prefer traditional kalbi flavor. Kalua pork with cabbage has very tender pork with shredded cabbage. I love this dish but it’s very salty…

Hapa J’s San Clemente
The sea surrounds me Fine coral sand below me Blue sky above me. I miss the deep blue sky and the awesome food of the Hawaiian islands. While there are Hawaiian restaurants in California something is missing. I was curious to see if Hapa J’s is as good.
