San Diego Chicken Pie Shop
Green grass around us Mountain trails for us to trek Blue sky above us. Phel Steinmetz introduced me to the Chicken Pie Shop back when this place was located on the corner of 5th Av. in Hillcrest. We were on a field trip to apply the photo techniques we learned in the classroom. This was our last stop on our day long adventure. Chicken pie was the best I’d ever had.

Enter and sniff air Scent of fryer tantalizes Golden fried chicken. I love fried food and my search has brought me to Crispy Fried Chicken. That search never ends as often I’ll find a great fried food spot and then they go out of business. Batter Up! had awesome southern style fried chicken wings. Huffman’s BBQ had cooked to order fried chicken so juicy and full of flavor. SQUE BBQ had awesome southern style fried chicken wings and zucchini. So much delicious fried food gone forever…

Church’s Chicken
The food I’ve liked in my time is American country cookin’. Colonel Sanders I miss the Golden Age. Back when Kentucky Fried Chicken, Pioneer Chicken and Picnic N’ Chicken were battling for fried chicken supremacy. Each had a distinct style and flavor profile. Now only KFC survives. There are some new kid’s on the block now.

That’s the power of songs.” Neil Gaiman – Anansi Boys This place was Stockdale’s Fine Southern Cuisine. Come on the right night and you could listen to the blues or lounge tunes. Owner was a refined southern gentleman and an excellent host. It’s nice to see that excellent hospitality continues on. Piano waits in the corner to play old songs.

Hot sun shines on down Chickens are found in their coop Closed Easter Sunday. Sun was shining bright. Da Chicken Coop was new and sparkly as I approached.
