Moe Coffee – National City

I remember the last croissant I had from Bread and Cie.  Thin crunchy outer layer.  Soft fluffy inner layers.  Fresh baked buttery aroma and flavor.

I was excited to see Moe Coffee was selling Bread & Cie baked goods.

The loosely wrapped croissant should have warned me off.  Most bakeries only wrap stuff that is sitting around for a while.  The other giveaway is the little colored stickers.  This is often used to determine how many days something is sitting around for.  Unwrapping the cellophane nose pricked up from the scent of stale baked goods.

I took one bite to verify all the life had been drained away from the poor croissant.  Normally crunchy exterior was now flat and rubbery.  Flavor had that nasty taste of a baked good sitting out too long.  I spit it out and did not eat anymore..  Wish I had read the sticker that said Friday before I left.  This being Sunday there’s no way it would still be good.

I was disappointed Moe Coffee was charging $5.25 for items that should be on a half off day old rack.

  1. Wow that’s a bummer. Stale food is yucky.

  2. Yeah after the newness of the market wears off there’s no way this place will survive. That’s just robbery.

    1. Yup. I can get a boxful of better tasting croissants at Costco.
