We were staying at the Palms and Maggie noticed there was a bbq run by celebrity chef Michael Symon here. Mabel’s features Cleveland style bbq. I love bbq so we made plans to visit.

Kim’s Bar-B-Que
Kim’s is a block away from Bowlegged BBQ so this area has a nice variety of bbq options.
Sam Woo
I stopped by Sam Woo to buy a duck and was surprised to see zongzi. I have not found any place in San Diego that has good zongzi so I did not have high hopes.
Bowlegged BBQ
You can smell the smoke a block away. I lucked out and found parking along the street in front. Scent of smoke is much stronger now. I walked over to the side of the building and found the source.

Island Style Cafe
I remember the summer trips to Hawaii. Lovely clear skies and white sand beaches. Hawaiian plate lunches and shaved ice for dessert closed out many wonderful days. San Diego has a good number of spots to get a plate lunch and shaved ice. Island Style Cafe is one of my favorite.
