Goulding’s Stagecoach Restaurant

I was looking for places to eat while visiting Monument Valley.  Not too many choices in the area.  Goulding’s Stagecoach Restaurant looked interesting.  I was excited to see Indian fry bread on the menu.  I had something a bit like it at the county fair.  Funnel cakes have a flavor that has similarities.

The fry bread had some crunchy bits but mostly it was thin delicate layers of dough.  I loved the mild flavor and it was even better with a bit of powdered sugar sprinkled on top.

Ribeye steak was tender and seasoned just right.  I ordered it medium well but medium would have been a better choice as the thin part was well done.  There was a nice char.  Very good tasting steak.
Fries were crispy on the outside and full of potato flavor.  Great tasting fries.
Veggies were a mix of zucchini, yellow squash, and cabbage.  Fresh and I liked the preparation.
Water had a slight flavor like chlorinated tap water.  I ordered a Pellegrino sparkling water which was quite refreshing.
2nd visit I ordered the beef stew with fry bread.  Beef stew had a tasty broth but it was mostly just potatoes.  I only found one small piece of beef.  I told the lady at the front and she said she would let the kitchen know.
Should rename the dish potatoes with a few carrots and a small piece of beef
Onion rings had a crispy outer layer and I loved the flavor.
Fry bread was fluffy and had that light fried flavor I enjoy.

Staff was nice and efficient.  I’d visit again for fry bread but I wouldn’t get the “beef stew” again.
Kirk from mmm-yoso!!! has visited too.
