Big John’s Texas BBQ

 

 

On the way to Monument Valley I noticed Big John’s Texas BBQ along the way.  I could not resist.

As we got closer I saw smoke billow from Big John’s smoker.  I love the scent of burning wood mixed with beef or pork.  There was a good amount of seating inside and much more outside.

It’s odd to see a Texas bbq without beef ribs so I ordered a rack of pork ribs.

Loved the flavor of the dry rub which had a perfect balance of black peppercorns and brown sugar.  Pork was almost fall off the bone tender and had a bold smoky flavor from being smoked.  Best pork ribs I’ve had in a while.

Big John’s has a good selection of ice cream.

I tried the Huckleberry and vanilla.  Huckleberry was rich and creamy with a sweet huckleberry flavor.  Taste alot like the huckleberry ice cream at the Black Bear Diner.  Vanilla was rich and creamy with a sweet vanilla flavor.  Very tasty but next time I’ll double up on the huckleberry.

Page, Arizona is a cool looking small town with some delicious Texas style bbq.  Staff was nice and helpful.
