Olsen’s Danish Village Bakery

I’ve been walking to a different Solvang bakery each morning.  The walk to Olsen’s was the longest but worth it.

There are many treats to choose from.

Danish waffle was heavenly with paper thin delicate layers of pastry with a bit of sweetness from the sugar crystals on top.  Center had a bit of sweet cream and raspberry.  Loved the flavors and texture of this dessert.

Bear claw had a mild pastry flavor with sugar crystals and slices of almonds adding flavors.  This is a great choice if you don’t like your treats too sweet.

Danish butter cookies came in a airtight plastic tub.  Fresh aroma of butter cookies hits you as you open the container.  There are six different varieties: Coconut, Chocolate Chip, Cinnamon, Almond, Oatmeal and Marble cookies.  They have a nice crunch and a sweet butter flavor.  A bit like the Danish butter cookies you can find in tins at the grocery store.  The difference is in the freshness and the bold fresh flavor.  These cookies are among the best I’ve found.  Next time I visit Solvang I’m getting a couple of tubs as I suspect they will stay fresh for a few weeks.
