Mitchell’s Ice Cream

It was a rainy afternoon as we pulled up to Mitchell’s.  Luckily there was a parking spot available!  This was a nice end to and awesome day.  I picked 5 half gallons to go.

New York Cherry was rich, creamy, with a sweet cherry flavor while the maraschino cherries gave a huge blast of cherry flavor in almost every bite.  This is among the best cherry ice creams I’ve eaten.
Compared to Sunnyside Farms cherry ice cream I found at the grocery store,  I can tell the Mitchell’s is thicker and richer with higher butterfat content and the cherries have a bolder sweeter flavor.
Vanilla was rich, creamy and fully of vanilla flavor.  One of my favorite vanilla ice creams.  Reminds me of Ben + Jerry’s vanilla.
Tropical 4 was a delicious mix of mango, guava, banana, and pineapple.  Loved the thick creamy texture and the fruit flavor.  This is my favorite fruit flavored ice cream.
Orange Sherbet is much like eating orange juice in sherbet form.  Nice mix of sweetness and a little bit of tartness.
Mango was creamy and full of mango flavor.
Mitchell’s is my fav ice cream shop in the San Francisco area.
Lots of delicious flavors to choose from and the best prices I’ve seen in a premium ice cream shop.  I brought back to San Diego 5 half gallons as they were only $10.99 each.

What is locust bean gum – it’s listed as ingredient on the ice creams.

    1. Faye the locust bean gum is a thickening agent. If you are interested in ice cream road trips buy an expensive cooler and some Cooler Shock ice packs:
