The Chicken Shop

The Chicken Shop is in the same mall as Mary’s Donuts and another bakery.  As I was ordering there was something familiar about the guy behind the counter.  He managed Crispy Fried Chicken.  Seems he broke off from other members of the family to open The Chicken Shop.  I loved Crispy Fried Chicken so I had high hopes for this place.

While I waited I tried the free arcade games.
Been a long time since I played Street Fighter.  Maggie played Pac Man.  It was fun trying out a few different characters in Street Fighter.
This time I ordered 3 pieces all dark meat which was a lunch sized meal and left a bit of room for a couple donuts from Mary’s.  Chicken was fresh out of the fryer.  I breathed deep that delicious fried aroma.  Batter was crunchy and the chicken was tender and juicy.  Great tasting traditional dish.
I have tried a bunch of menu items on previous visits.
Onion rings were tiny.  Batter was crunchy but the flavor was mostly of fried batter.  I prefer bigger onion rings with more fried onion flavor.  French fries were crispy and full of potato flavor.  Very good fries.  Fried catfish had a crunchy corn meal batter and delicious catfish flavor.
Shrimp fried rice was a large size dish.  Shrimp gave this dish pretty good flavor.
Fried chicken wings coated with spicy dry rub.  Wings were crunchy and juicy inside.  Dry rub was spicy so I ate it with the fried rice.  I’m not a fan of spicy food so next time I’ll get them plain with sauce on the side.
Lots of drink choices.  My favorite was the Stubborn Soda Root Beer.  Sweet with a delicious root beer flavor.
The Chicken Shop uses the same recipes as Crispy Fried Chicken and the menu gets larger each visit.  Great spot to get traditional fried food at low prices.

  1. Just love their chicken tenders! They are super nice people and I did have fun playing pac-man.

    1. We will have to visit again!

  2. Do you prefer the legs or thighs for dark meat. I prefer thighs every time. How fun they offer fried rice here at a chicken place! The wings look a bit small?

    1. Wings were bigger than Buffalo Wild Wings but they were not that big.

I prefer thighs and wings over legs.

The menu is pretty big. I wanna try the fried chicken liver next time.

  3. Today (7/29) is national chicken wing day! Where would your place of choice be to go? Dennis plans to pick up Wings N Things tonight cuz he loves their tenders plus discount! =P

  4. I’m going to celebrate at Buffalo Wild Wings as if you buy an order of wings you get a small order free. I never reviewed them but I’m gonna try and review them this time. Have fun at Wings N Things!
