When I was a child I looked forward to the drive south to Chula Vista. My brother worked at Hom’s Teapot Inn. A few times he took me to visit and the owner would have his chef make something delicious for me. I miss Wendel Hom and his Teapot Inn.

Barn Fresh Produce
I am a huge cherry fan and planned a road trip to San Francisco during cherry season so I could get some delicious farm fresh cherries. I tried some supermarket cherries but most of them were the small light red variety lacking bold sweet cherry flavor. Driving north on Highway 1 just north of Monterrey I was excited to see the cherry sign next to Barn Fresh Produce.

Oaxaca Fresh Mexican Grill
We stopped in Carpinteria on our way to Aptos, CA. Carpinteria is a very quiet beach town in May. Located south of Santa Barbara beach crowds should be filling this place up when summer starts. Maggie found Oaxaca Fresh next door to the ice cream shop I was looking for. Place looked like a nice family run restaurant.
