Inez Grant Parker Memorial Rose Garden

    April 15, 2016 /

Strolling over the bridge we made a left turn away from the roses to discover a trail winding back and forth half way down the hill. Very lovely cactus varieties and small wild flowers abundant. On the way back it was time to wander through the rose garden. I’ve wanted to take more pictures here for awhile now, so I was ready to capture as much loveliness as possible.

“Not all those who wander are lost.”  J.R.R. Tolkien Listen.  Wind rustles the leaves of the Freemont’s Cottonwood trees.  The tone and volume changes with the intensity of the wind.  It’s a high pitched sound like whistling when I visit at the end of the day.  I sit in my car safe from the bugs and listen.  A peaceful calm envelops me.  Nature’s version of Fur Elise by Beethoven.

San Diego Coffee and Tea House Old Town State Historic Park San Diego, CA

    April 12, 2016 /

Walking inside the aromatic teas and coffees assault your senses, then lift your spirits instantly. Whenever I need a pick me up, this is the place to go. I’ve visited many times over the years and have always tried new teas and bought all my favorites. This last visit I decided to finally try out the coffees as well and enjoyed a nice hot cup of Joe.

This is where they walked This is where they swam Take a picture here Take a souvenir R.E.M. – Cuyahoga Rain falls down.  Droplets plop on my face.  As water runs down my face the years wash away.  I work across the street as a webmaster for an internet startup.  Lunch time was spent walking to the beach and watching the waves and breathing in salty sea air.  Raindrops create ripples in puddles, more years wash away.  I’m learning to ride a long board with bikini girls from UCSD.  Water is freezing as I fall off and I’m submerged in the surf.

    Bourré Southern Bistro

    April 8, 2016 /

“Songs remain. They last…A song can last long after the events and the people in it are dust and dreams and gone. That’s the power of songs.” Neil Gaiman – Anansi Boys This place was Stockdale’s Fine Southern Cuisine. Come on the right night and you could listen to the blues or lounge tunes. Owner was a refined southern gentleman and an excellent host. It’s nice to see that excellent hospitality continues on. Piano waits in the corner to play old songs.

Black Angus 10370 Friars Road, San Diego, CA 92120

    April 7, 2016 /

The low lighting, the huge private booths, the rustic pictures and artwork on the walls, the superior friendly service are all hallmarks of this restaurant. I’ve always thought if you worked for the CIA (or some other spy organization) this would be the perfect place for a one on one private meeting that nobody would know about! You know the one, Tom Cruise meeting with another agent, but they are followed by the enemy and spotted easily because the cafe has floor to ceiling glass windows….would not happen if you were at Black Angus!
