Companion Animal Hospital

Companion Animal Hospital opened in March of 2013 under the umbrella of nonprofit Helen Woodward Animal Center. They offer a variety of services to all cats and dogs. This includes orthopedic surgery, dentistry, ultrasound, laser therapy, preventative medicine, digital radiology, diagnostic internal medicine and routine care.

My dog developed a skin growth on the outside of his leg that needed surgery. Initially I figured this was an easy fix. Just schedule the procedure then take my sweet boy home. Not so much, unless money is no object for you. The quote I received (from my local vet) shocked me. No way could I afford this.

So began my exhaustive search. After many weeks I found Companion Animal Hospital. When I called them to ask for a quote they couldn’t have been nicer and more helpful. Immediately they thought their price would be competitive however they needed to see my dog in person to verify.

Upon arriving the receptionist and technician were very friendly and knowledgeable about dogs. I could tell every employee was genuinely an animal person. We went into a room right away and the appointment went really well. Both my dog Bear and myself genuinely liked Dr Garvey which in my book is a huge deal. Since my dog suffers from anxiety at the vet. She was very informative about answering all my questions and explaining what needed to be done.

After the appointment I received a quote for the needed surgery and was completely relieved to see the price was four times less than the original quote at the other vet. So needless to say my dog received his surgery here, was in and out the same day with no problems or complications. His growth was benign so no worries about cancer, hallelujah.

We returned a few weeks later for his suture removal. This was very quick and my dog was rewarded with the removal of the dreaded cone. I can’t say enough good things about all of the staff here and Dr. Garvey. Thank you for saving my dog because essentially that is what happened. It may not have been life threatening at the time, however if I hadn’t found you all then his growth would have kept getting worse. Potentially turning into a life threatening situation. I’m very thankful to everyone at Companion Animal Hospital and will sing your praises to everyone I know.

I use a combination of my iPhone and my Fujifilm X-E2 camera for all my photographs. Just depends on where I am as to which one I'll use to take my pictures with. I love to write original stories combined with my photographs. If you'd like to send me a message or comment, please do so at; maggie@hungryones.com We just celebrated our 14th Anniversary this October 2016!! So exciting!! 2015 A couple since 2003 and now on the precipice of this new journey, our fondest hope is this website serves a purpose. One of useful information presented in an elegant, beautiful photographic setting. Together we love to discover new restaurants, food trucks, diners, café’s, huts or where ever we find food being served. The love of artful, carefully crafted, passionately orchestrated food, beverages and let’s not forget desert, Is something we both enjoy immensely. Immersing ourselves in the history, culture and surrounding locations of our adventures hopefully leads to not only meeting new people, but making new friends, sharing ideas, listening to stories and learning something new everyday.
