Mocozy

Whenever I go on jury duty I like to try a new eatery within walking distance of the courthouse.  This year I found Mocozy.

There isn’t any parking but there is a trolley stop across the street.

I started with the shrimp tempura.  Nice crunchy batter.  The shrimp were tiny and there was too much batter to shrimp ratio.

While the shrimp were tender and delicious this dish was too much like shrimp flavored batter.

Next up was the kalbi rice bowl.  Glass noodles had a very mild flavor which was perfect to go with the kalbi which was bursting with flavor.  Wish my kalbi turned out this tender and flavorful.  I marinate it overnight but the beef doesn’t absorb the flavor like the beef here.  Rice was moist and I liked the light flavor.  Cabbage and carrots were fresh and I loved the flavor.  The kalbi rice bowl was delicious and a good sized lunch.  I’d get it again with gyoza next time.
Relaxing watching the world go by.  Employees were nice and efficient.

  1. The menu looks tasty. The chicken teriyaki rice bowl and a banana smoothie sounds good. That’s great you enjoyed the kalbi rice bowl.

    1. We can take the trolley and visit!

  2. Yum! I love that there’s been an expansion of Korean food, and in this case, glad that it’s downtown where the norm is either chains or tourist stuff (i.e. horrible food, lots of drinking, etc.). Last few times I’ve been called for jury duty it’s been in the south bay thus I’ve been able to explore more of the options there with the 2-hour lunch break.

    1. Those long lunches are my favorite part of jury duty. I’d enjoy catching up on my reading more except for those hard plastic chairs.
