Jus Fishy – New York
Scent I cannot resist was in the air. Reminds me of the ocean. I drew closer and breathed deep. My eyes marveled at her golden skin. Flecks of gold glinted in the harsh fluorescent light. My tongue caressed her bare skin and I was lost. Exotic flavors filled overwhelmed my taste buds. Whiting, corn meal, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper… Tender and juicy. Among the best fried whiting I’ve had.

Blue Marble Ice Cream – New York
Walking around the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens I got hot and thirsty. Snack bar had one last container of gelato. I noticed it was made by Blue Marble Ice Cream. Gelato was frozen solid and difficult to scoop with the little piece of wood I was given. Icy texture tickled my tongue. I was floored by the bold strawberry flavor as I tasted the cold treat. Far too soon I consumed the little container of gelato. Whipping out my Iphone I found they had a store nearby. I planned a visit for dessert.

Bright neon sign and the promise of bbq brought me here. Place was big and there were a good number of people eating here.

Nuccio’s Bakery & Pastry – New York
I like to get up early and start my day as the sun rises. It’s the best time to visit bakeries. Everything is freshly baked and the good stuff runs out later in the day. My family use to take me to a little bakery a couple blocks from our Chinese laundry. We got there early and were greeted by the aroma of fresh apple pie. That and donuts were my biggest weaknesses. Nuncio’s has a nice aroma of fresh baked bread.

Belvedere Castle
I wanted a castle when I was a kid. Nothing like cold hard stone to keep your enemies out. I never got a castle to replace my cardboard fortress but I still had hope. Maggie told me there was a castle in Central Park we needed to visit. Central Park was lush and lovely. Perfect for emulating the English countryside I imagine actual castles would exist in.

Empire State Building
When I was a kid I read amazing facts of figures about the world’s tallest, longest, widest, and fastest things on earth in Guinness Book of World Records. The Empire State Building was built in 1931 and the world’s tallest building for 40 years. I never thought I would see it in person.

Langan’s Pub – New York
An Irish pub in Portland had my favorite mushroom sauce and steak. It was a mixture of wild mushrooms and enhanced the flavor of a ribeye steak that was already delicious from the char, salt & pepper. An Irish pub in Palm Springs had my favorite chicken pot pie. Crust was crunchy and the flavor of the chicken and gravy put Marie Calendar’s to shame.
