TK Donuts
We are the champions, my friends And we’ll keep on fighting ’til the end. Freddie Mercury The drive to TK Donuts is familiar to me. During my college days I made this drive Sunday evenings to the Sunset Bowl. I was in the Muir college bowling league. Those were great times and I still meet up with my best friend I met while bowling Steve W. Our team won the championship once. Trophy still sits in the garage along with my bowling ball. TK Donuts is located in a strip mall facing the street. I found out about this place reading Kirk’s blog mmm-yoso!!!.

Solomon Bagels & Donuts
I love North Park with it’s cute Craftsman houses. I lived here from kindergarten through 3rd grade. My mom took my walking throughout the neighborhood. There were many cool local shops. A few blocks down 30th ST was a fabric store my mom would buy fabrics to sew shirts for me. Around where Solomon Bagels & Donuts is now located was an awesome hobby shop with model rockets and remote control planes. We could not afford to buy anything inside the hobby shop back then. I have a job now so I went inside Solomon Bagels & Donuts and bought a bunch of goodies.

The Donut Palace – El Centro
When I was a kid and we were driving home from the beach I remember seeing the freeway sign for the 8 freeway to El Centro. It was over a 100 miles away I wondered what it was like there. We always got off the freeway before we got anywhere near El Centro. I checked it out today on the way home from Scottsdale Arizona. It was a small town full of fast food places and taco shops. Looked kinda like El Cajon back in the old days.

Mary’s Donuts – Santee
Fryer bubbles oil Yeast rises towards the sky Donut scent teases. Why oh why did I never stop here. I have passed by many times on the way to Santee or El Cajon. It’s hard to miss the old building that looks like a house. I read this place was relocating at the end of the year and finally visited. Heaven scent greets you as you enter. Sugar glaze glints under the lights. Colored sprinkles like the colors of the rainbow. I would take home all these sweet morsels if I could. Staff was really nice as I tried to pick the perfect dozen donuts. So many choices… Apple filled…
