I love visiting Farmers Markets. My neighborhood had a nice farmers market but they kept losing their location and eventually closed. Lately I’ve been visiting the Hillcrest Farmer’s Market. While visiting Solvang I was excited to see the Solvang Farmers Market.
Farm fresh produce
Barn Fresh Produce
I am a huge cherry fan and planned a road trip to San Francisco during cherry season so I could get some delicious farm fresh cherries. I tried some supermarket cherries but most of them were the small light red variety lacking bold sweet cherry flavor. Driving north on Highway 1 just north of Monterrey […]
Lilac Foods
After Easter Sunday lunch at Fat Ivors we left in search of fresh strawberries. Nice waitress mentioned the strawberry lady in front of Lilac Foods. We drove up and found the strawberry lady with strawberries.
Hillcrest Farmers Market

Hillcrest has a really big Farmers Market with a good variety of vendors over 2 large blocks so I thought […]
Bi-Rite Market – 18th Street
One of the first grocery stores I shopped at was just a bit bigger than Bi-Rite. At the time I was just interested in getting 7Up and Hires Root Beer. Bi-Rite is more for gourmet cooks while that old grocery store was more for necessities and alcohol.
Sprouts – Mira Mesa
Back in the day Mira Mesa Blvd ended a mile west of here and I use to ride my bike through uncharted wilderness. It was fun exploring vernal pools in the middle of nowhere. My bike got pretty dirty riding through the dirt and mud. Sadly those days ended when they paved Mira Mesa Blvd […]
Williamson Produce
Sweet scent of strawberries fills the air. Luscious red berries so juicy and full of sweetness. It’s that time of the year. Strawberries are in season. The Williamson Produce stand is my fav spot in town to get fresh strawberries.
