When I was a kid we drove to Chinatown Los Angeles to buy Chinese bbq and eat dim sum. I noticed Westminster/Garden Grove has the same foods we bought in Chinatown. On the way home from Rolling Hills Estates I stopped at Lien Hoa.

Northern Cafe
The people here are incredibly hard working and nice. I was looking for a place that was open on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Both times Northern Cafe was open and cranking out orders.
Fortunate Son
Fortunate Son was very busy when we arrived at 4pm. Hostess quoted us a 90 minute wait for a table or 15 minutes for takeout. We opted for takeout.
Eastern Dynasty
Exciting to see a new Chinese restaurant in the same mall as where China Max was. I noticed they have bbq pork here and tried to order bbq pork pan fried noodles but the waiter would only let me order what was on the menu.
Tom’s Chinese BBQ
I remember this mall from when I was in elementary school. There was an arcade here. I biked over after school to spend afternoons basking in the light of the video screens. There were few food choices back then.
Double Happiness
Back in the old days the sky was filled with hot air balloon as the sun was setting. We went up once. The pickup spot was a few miles away at the Vons parking lot. It was an amazing adventure drifting among the clouds. We ate at Double Happiness afterwards.
Steamy Piggy
Now seems to be a good time to try places on Convoy St as there is parking available at lunch time.
