Miguel’s Cocina 1351 Orange Avenue Coronado, CA 92118
And you Light up my life You give me hope To carry on You light up my days And fill my nights With song This place has a bright, happy aura about it, drawing you in. It’s been a long time favorite of my Mother’s and we have nothing but good memories here. Ordered the chicken tacos with beans and rice. Every time I eat out at a Mexican restaurant the true test for me is the beans and rice. If the beans and rice are fresh, soft and spiced just right, then I know I will love everything on my plate. The chicken was very moist and flavorful with…

Coronado Cupcakery Coronado Ferry Landing 1201 First St, Suite 104 Coronado, CA 92118
Cupcake, cupcake, oh how I love thee. The wonderful scent of baking cake, mixed with vanilla and spices. Your lovely, beautiful, frosting, cascading over the top of pure, moist cake. The smooth, creamy cinnamon, cheesecake frosting combined with Mexican chocolate cake, melts in my mouth and warms my body, this one’s Mexican Maria. Pink cheesecake frosting surrounds the top and is followed by chocolate, cheesecake cake and chocolate chips. My taste buds do a back flip of happiness, this one’s Black bottom Betty. Black bottom Betty and Mexican Maria are my picks this time around. Happy Birthday to me! This is the only place I buy Birthday cupcakes, you can’t…

The Tavern 1310 Orange Ave, Coronado, CA 92118
The one great thing about going to Coronado is you know it’s always going to have the same beautiful small town vibe it’s always had no matter how long it’s been since the last time I visited. The Tavern is this great little bar slash restaurant. It is decorated with some interesting pieces. Walking down the stairs leading inside, directly on your left, is this old wood weathered piece with numerous cupboard holes. Maybe held mail at one time. Just love the open air window running the length of the upper back wall. Great for people watching. Our waiter was super nice and really informed about the menu. Before ordering…

Liliuokalani Botanical Garden 123 N Kuakini St Honolulu, HI 96817
The wind in the trees lured me in. The soft sound of water falling slowed my steps. The spirit of the trees beckoned me to sit down and enjoy the serenity. If you love trees, then you will love this park. The laundry line gently blew in the wind. The old tenant buildings drew a stark contrast against the fence line. The sprinkler hit it’s target spot on and provided a nice mist. Walking farther towards the far end of the park, I discovered an abandoned boarded up two story building. It looked so forlorn, hoping to be filled with people again someday. Noticed a girl walking towards me…

Karsten Thot Bridge, Wahiawa, Hawaii
This bridge captured my attention so I just had to stop and take a look. The contrast between the steel lines seemingly floating against the sky filled with clouds is striking. Walking along the short path to the bridge I noticed a small group of people huddled together down the embankment. Kept walking towards the bridge, noticed a dog walking along with his owner directly across the street from me. For some reason (unbeknownst to me at the time) I kept my eye on the dog. Upon approaching two male strangers along the narrow path, the dog balked and tried to bolt across the street towards me into oncoming cars.…
