Hard Knox Cafe – 3rd St.

Hard Knox Cafe has some attractive southern style dishes on the menu.  I was hoping to get some oxtail but they were out of stock.  I did eat some other tasty dishes.

Fried catfish was coated in cornmeal batter.  Tender catfish had a mild catfish flavor.  Fries were crunchy with mild potato flavor.  Pretty good dish but the flavor was milder than I prefer.

I sampled the spicy fried chicken which was had a crunchy batter filled with many spices.  Tender, juicy chicken with delicious flavors and just enough spiciness to excite my taste buds but not so much that my mouth burns.  This was my favorite dish.

I also sampled the smothered chicken.  Tender juicy chicken with a delicious savory gravy coating the chicken.  Gravy is a bit like turkey gravy.

Stewart’s Root Beer was sweet with a nice kick to it.

Cafe was pretty busy at 3pm on a Saturday.  Staff was nice and brought out the food fairly quickly.  I’d visit often if I lived nearby.

I like to take photos of beautiful things like rain falling into puddles. Photos were mostly taken on a Fuji XE-2. Starting 9.9.2016 most photos are taken on a Fuji XT-2. Subsequent photos were taken with an Iphone 13 Pro and an Iphone 15 Pro Max.

I went to the Clement Street location a few years ago, and thought the fried chicken was delicious! I lived near that location many years ago, but it was a different restaurant then.

      Sandy,

You lived in a cool neighborhood! We visited the Clement Street location after we visited the Golden Gate park. I should be posting about it in a few weeks. I loved the oxtail there.
