The Sandbox

1466 Garnet Avenue San Diego, California 92109

Upon walking inside I was surprised by how many flat screen televisions were lining the walls. Each one with a different channel including music video’s that could be heard throughout the inside dining area. There is a bar area plus an outside dining area where people watching is abundant.

We sat inside along the wall area and found a huge connect 4 game. So of course we had to play while waiting for our food. Daughter did not want to continue playing after I kept winning, darn.

Normally I don’t mention the bathrooms unless there is something new. This one is very adamant about giving positive affirmations, which I adore. When entering you are greeted with “Hello There Sweet Cheeks” in yellow neon. Made me smile.

We ordered a pizza (sausage, bell peppers, onions) and salad (wedge with tomato, cucumber, bacon, feta) to share. The crust was just a medium thickness. Also gluten free or vegan are optional. Plus I wanted to try the hard kombucha (watermelon, mint). Everything smelled and tasted wonderful. The pizza crust was an acceptable thickness for me and the salad was well balanced with vegetable to bacon ratio. I would come here again.

Their menu offers the following: build your own pizza, (10, 14 or 18 inch), a variety of signature pizzas & calzones, wings, appetizers (tater tots, potato wedges, meatballs, cheesy bread, mozzarella sticks), sandwiches (chicken, veggie, meatball), salads, spaghetti with meatballs, sauces and dessert.

Delivery is offered, you may order on their website here.
