Poke Etc.

Lots of good eats in National City.

I visited Poke Etc. and tried the bbq beef ribs with double rice.
Rice was moist and had a nice mild flavor.  Beef ribs were fall off the bone tender with a good amount of beef.  Nice mix of beef flavor and some sweet and tangy flavors from the sauce.  Tasty dish.
Haupia was silky smooth like jello.  Nice sweet coconut flavor.

2nd visit.
Lechon kawali was tender and juicy on the inside while the skin was nice and crunchy.  Delicious fried pork flavor.  One of the best lechon kawali dishes I’ve had.
Pork egg rolls had a thin crunchy outer layer while the inside was filled with a delicious mixture of pork and cabbage.
Orange Mogu Mogu drink had a sweet flavor like orange soda with little pieces of coconut jelly.  Delicious.
Real nice chef come by and said hi.  Turns out he is originally from the Philippines which explains why the lechon kawali tasted so good.
3rd visit.
Kalua pork was tender with a delicious smoky flavor.  Cabbage add fresh flavor and a crunchy texture.  This is one of my favorite versions of kalua pork in town.
4th visit
Fried chicken wings had a crunchy batter while the chicken was tender and juicy. Very good tasting wings.  Rice was moist with a nice mild flavor topped with a bit of dried seaweed which added a salty flavor.

The decor, Hawaiian items for sale, and the food remind me of Hawaii, one of my favorite places in the world.  I feel Ohana here.
Kirk from mmm-yoso!!! visited too.

  1. We will have to visit again soon! Might get one of those cute Hawaiian hula girl ornaments.

  2. Everything looks and sounds delicious. I’ve only had the poke here so far, and it’s pre-marinated (as it should be) and has lots of flavor. I will try some of their meat dishes some time.

  3. Poke Etc is one of our fav spots to eat Joy.
