Julian Beer Company / 2307 Main Street Julian, CA 92036

We stopped here on one of our day trips to Julian and have kept coming back because the food is really delicious and the staff is genuinely friendly.

For beers I’ve tried both the red and brown ales, I prefer the brown ale called The Weasel. It’s dark, mysterious with subtle flavors. Plus I’m told it’s an award winner. Very cool. Also the hard cider was crisp, dry with subtle apple flavor. If your not sure which one to pick they do offer samples to help you make up your mind.

So far I’ve tried the cheesy bites, the pork sandwich with cheese and the bacon bleu pizza. My daughter had the grand daddy pep pizza with no jalapeño.

My only problem is I can’t decide which food item I like best! Never had a pizza with the combination of bleu cheese, walnuts, bacon and honey. It was just phenomenal, mixing savory with a touch of sweet. The pork sandwich just melts in your mouth, add on cheese and toasted bun, does not last long. Cheesy bites are fun with a variety of dipping sauces to try.

We all came here for my birthday lunch last week, then walked through a few shops afterwards. The scenery is always nice along the drive there and back. Happy horses, ostrich and cattle dot the landscape.

Pretty trees in the front.

  1. I was impressed by how friendly they are and how good the bbq is.

  2. Sweet spot in Julian!

  3. I’ll have to remember this place. I’ve never eaten in Julian – I usually drive up to get pie or pick apples and then I eat afterward on the other side of the mountain (in Escondido, Temecula, etc.).

    1. Well on your next trip you’ll have to stop in! I discovered while ordering my beer, if you buy a round for the kitchen ($4.00 I think) they ding a bell and cheer for you. Super cool!
