Hard Knox Cafe – Clement St

So tender that the beef was falling off the bone.

Covered in a savory gravy that made me picture a roasted turkey with gravy.  I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious flavor from the oxtail and there were no chewy parts just tender oxtail.  Fries had a nice potato flavor and crispy.

Wait staff was nice and kept my mug of complimentary soda water filled.  I showed up at 4pm Monday and parking was plentiful.

2nd visit I ordered the spicy fried chicken and one piece of catfish for $3.  I love how you can order ala carte so I don’t fill up on the carbs.  Spicy fried chicken had crunchy batter and a good amount of spices which  was making it almost too spicy for me.  Chicken was juicy and delicious.  Next time I’ll try the regular fried chicken.

Cornmeal battered catfish was crunchy and hot out of the fryer.  I loved mix of flavors from the catfish and the batter.

Next time I’m in town I’m returning for more delicious oxtail.  Hard Knox Cafe -Clement St is located near Golden Gate Park making for a great place to eat before or after an adventure at the museums or botanical gardens in the park.
