Juanitas Taco Shop – Encinitas
The small town ambiance is still here. I’ve driven by this old building many times. It’s not as crowded here as the new hipster places further down the road.

Monumental Workx
I hate being hot. Normally the solution is to turn on the AC to cool the car off. When the outside temp is 100F the inside of the car can get up to 140F. At these temps the AC is going to take alot of time to cool down the car. Window tint is a way to reduce the heat in the car. It’s a numbers game. The more you spend on higher performance tint the more solar energy the tint rejects. The darker the tint within the tint line the more solar energy the tint rejects. I researched window tint on the internet and Spectra Photosync is the best…

Santa Barbara Botanic Garden / Part two
It’s easy for me to get caught up in nature. A new world awaits upon each adventure. When I sit and listen long enough nature begins to unfold her treasures.

Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream – Encinitas
In days past I walked by this corner to stare at the sea. Fine sand grains felt nice beneath my feet. During the day there was beach volleyball to watch. At days end lovely sunsets. I liked how it’s not as crowded as Pacific Beach or La Jolla. Now there is new reason to come here. Handel’s. So many flavors to choose from but I usually stick with my traditional favorites.

Now all that’s left is a parking lot. Downtown is being consumed by huge apartment towers but some of the old buildings I remember are still here. I didn’t go down 11th Ave in the old days.

Fosselman’s Ice Cream
I like the stars. It’s the illusion of permanence, I think. I mean, they’re always flaring up and caving in and going out. But from here, I can pretend…I can pretend that things last. Neil Gaiman – The Sandman: Brief Lives Early 1970’s: I was in elementary school at the time. Monday – Friday I looked forward to the end of the day. Nearby Ray Huffman was tearing down old houses and turning them into cheap apartments. I watched as the construction workers went home. They left behind treasures. Discarded soda bottles could be turned in at the grocery stores for a dime a piece. On a good day I’d find…

Howlin’ Ray’s
Saturday 10am. It’s opening time and there is a huge line. Luckily most of the line was in the shade so while it was hot and humid you won’t get sunburned.
