The San Diego Union-Tribune

I’ve been working hard on keeping my townhouse cool in the summer with my cooling projects.

Now that it’s winter I’ve been using my sunshields as window insulation.  The San Diego Union-Tribune interviewed me and published the story on January 23, 2023.  It’s part of their residents wrestle with rise in natural gas costs story.

  1. Great article! That’s really special you were included in their interviews. Now your famous being on the front page!
Wish the Tribune did not include the grisly photo of the Monterey park massacre murderer, also on the front page. I think people would have preferred a nice memorial of the victims instead.

    1. Looks like they want attention grabbing stories.

  2. It was so nice to read that someone else has low energy bills and is striving to continue to conserve. I’m surprised how many people have been complacent with (what I consider to be) high energy bills. Am eagerly awaiting warmer days so that I can use the clothesline again.

    1. I have my clothesline strung in my garage so I can line dry year round. I hang the heavy stuff on the patio. Keep up the good work conserving!

  3. You’re famous! I hadn’t even considered the dual purpose of your efforts – what keeps your house cool in the summer helps keep it warm in the winter. SDG&E is Dante’s 10th circle of hell and I will do anything to avoid giving them money. I too would rather pay for improvements or wait a little extra time for clothes to dry naturally than pay those crooks.

    1. Only good thing I can say about SDG+E is I rarely have a power outage.

Thanks! It doesn’t get that cold here so I can just wear my lined sweatpants and throw on an extra jacket. It’s the heat waves that really test my engineering efforts.
