Rosco de Reyes @ Carnival Supermarket

Día de los Reyes Day is celebrated on January 6th.  Each person cuts into the rosco and the lucky one gets the part with the plastic figurine of baby Jesus.
I visited Carnival Market to get some Rosco de Reyes.

3 Kings bread starts with a bread base like Day of the Dead bread.  Nice and moist with a mild flavor.
Loved the sugary glaze on top with added some sweetness and the dried fruit which added a fruity sweetness.  I love this bread and look forward to getting it again next year.
I also tried some other items.

Fresh tortillas were still warm when I brought them home and tried them.  Soft and had a delicious mild flavor.

Concha was soft and mild flavored.  Sugar glaze on top gave this treat a delicious sweet flavor.
Fried fish was a battered white fish.  I liked the mild flavor and the crispy batter.
Excellent value.
Bbq ribs were fall off the bone tender.  Tasted like they were baked.  Very mild flavor without the sauce.  I liked the sauce which had a sweet bbq flavor.
Rotisserie chicken was fall off the bone tender. Nice flavor.  Comparable to other supermarket rotisserie chickens.  So far Costco is my favorite as the freshness and flavor is the best I’ve had from a market.
Fried drumsticks had a crunchy skin and tender juicy chicken.  I liked the mild fried flavor.
Excellent value.
The meats were on par with meats from other Mexican markets I’ve tried.  The tortillas tasted much better than the pre packaged tortillas you see in major grocery store chains.

  1. That’s great you liked your three kings bread. Sounds like you’ll be visiting again soon!

    1. I’ll go whenever I need something from the bakery or the deli. The tortillas could make for great tasting kalua pork tacos.

  2. Great photos-that Rosca looks very fresh. If you have leftovers, you can make French Toast. We buy bites of items like that from the Steam Trays, too.

    1. Thanks! It was fresh. 🙂 So far the fried fish and fried chicken are my fav hot foods.

  3. The bread sounds yummy – I’ve never had it! The tortillas, on the other hand, I have had too many of lol. Sometimes I buy a bag along with the habanero salsa and it’s quite a good time.

    1. Give it a try next year. You really party Joy!
