Yelp San Diego’s Fright at the Museum

One of the things I look forward to each year is the Yelp Halloween party.  You never know which Yelp friends you will see.  This year I saw old Yelp CM’s Brad and Trish as well as Mia, Vin, Karen, Cesar, and Marilyn.

I loved seeing all the creative costumes.  It’s a bit like Comic Con.

Lots of tasty food and drink abounded.  Topo Chico had 2 very nice ladies serving ice cold Topo Chico one of my fav drinks.  Bubbly with a bold soda water flavor.

Donut Bar had a very nice employee handing out donuts.

Pumpkin Creme Brulee donut had a sweet and crunchy sugary coating on top plus a pumpkin flavored creme center within a soft yeast based donut.  Very tasty except the creme in the center.

Panda Express had orange chicken and fortune cookies.  Orange chicken was tender and had a mix of fried chicken flavor along with their sweet orange sauce.  Crunchy fortune cookies with a bit of sweetness are among the best in town.

Lucha Libre brought beef birrea tacos.  Corn tortillas had a mild corn flavor.  Beef birrea featured shredded beef which was very tender and full of flavor.  Delicious.

Handel’s had ice cream.  Mango was icy and tasted like sweet mango.  Oree-Dough had a mix of vanilla, oreo, and cookie dough flavor.  There is alot going on like a party in my mouth.

Black raspberry chunk was a mix of black raspberry and chocolate flavors.  Handel’s is one of my favorite ice cream shop and there are a ton of flavors to choose from.

Cookies & Cream

Gelato Paradisio makes gelato which seems richer than ice cream.  Blackberry was thick, rich, and full of blackberry flavor.  Cookies & cream was a decadent mix of vanilla and cookie flavor.

Dolemite

Zonkey had a selection of paletas.  Mango was icy and full of mango flavor.  Dolemite had a strong pineapple flavor as well as lychee and elderflower flavors.  Very different from supermarket popsicles I’ve had.

The Palette baked fancy gourmet cookies.  I tried El Jefe which featured smoked brown butter, chocolate shards, espresso powder, and Maldon salt flakes.  Tasted like my fav bbq joint had a baby with Mrs. Fields.  Loved the smoky, sweet, and salty flavors.

Thanks to Yelp, all the supporting businesses, and the San Diego Air & Space Museum for the awesome event.  Loved seeing historic planes and spacecraft.

  1. Fun event! Such a huge turnout!

  2. That’s good you had a great time!

  3. Looks like a great event! I’d go for the donuts and the Topo Chico booth. I hadn’t lived until I tried Topo Chico water and now I buy it by the pallet.

    1. Event was awesome! I had a lot of ice cold Too Chico while at the event. :-). Have you been stocking up at the Costco Business Center?

      1. I didn’t know they had it at the Costco Business Center; they don’t have it at the ‘regular’ Costco stores. I usually get my Topo Chico at Target. Closest thing at Costco is Perrier which I also like but not in the plastic bottles. Yes I’m very particular about my mineral water lol.

  4. I’ve seen Topo Chico every visit to the Costco Business Center on Convoy. I’ve seen Perrier in glass bottles there too. I like glass bottles the best. They have a lot more choices than the regular Costco.
