I remember in elementary school during heat waves the teacher would turn off the lights and turn on the fans.  It was rare for anybody to have AC back then.  In the 90’s when my place was built they slapped an AC unit on the roof and declared it a luxury development.  The patio doors and windows didn’t impress me as they were cheap single pane glass.
