Casa De Reyes

I love visiting Old Town.  Back in 1834 the Mexican government granted San Diego chartered town status.  Lots of historical buildings to check out.  My co-workers voted to have our monthly lunch at Casa De Reyes.

Lots of covered outdoor seating.  I appreciate all the big umbrellas to keep from getting sunburned.
The lunch menu was one page and easy to go through.  2 tacos for $18 or 3 tacos for $19?
I picked 3 tacos.  All the tacos came with a soft corn tortilla which had a nice mild corn flavor.  Tasted freshly made.
Carnitas had a delicious pork flavor.  Pork was tender and moist.
Beef was tender and had a very mild beef flavor.
Carne asada was tender and juicy.  Loved the bold flavor from the marinated beef.  This was my favorite taco.
Complimentary chips came from a warmer.
Chips were freshly fried and had a delicious fried corn flavor.  I loved the flavor of the seasoning but I wish it was more evenly distributed as some of the chips didn’t get any seasoning.  Was tempting to eat a couple baskets of chips but lunch was a huge amount of food.

I like to take photos of beautiful things like rain falling into puddles. Photos were mostly taken on a Fuji XE-2. Starting 9.9.2016 most photos are taken on a Fuji XT-2. Subsequent photos were taken with an Iphone 13 Pro and an Iphone 15 Pro Max.

  1. That’s always my problem – the chips. The tacos look and sound great. I’ve always enjoyed the enchiladas here and at Casa Guadalajara around the corner.

    1. They are wise not letting you just order 1 taco and then I could fill up on those delicious chips. I’ll have to try Casa Guadalajara. I love the lobster Puerto Neuvo style at Cafe Cayote.
