Carmen’s Mexican Food

This little strip mall reminds me of olden times.  It’s not shiny or fancy or modern.

Looks like the kinda place where you can get a simple meal at a reasonable price.

Beef taco was crunchy with a tasty fried corn tortilla flavor.

I liked how the beef was lightly marinated as well.  Very good beef taco.

Carne asada taco featured tender marinated beef with a sweetness and lots of beefy flavor.  Tortilla was a bit stiff and had a mild flavor.  Loved the beef but the tortilla was not as good.

Carne asada fries featured tender beef nicely charred and seasoned with a little black pepper.  Fries were crispy with a nice fried potato flavor.

Chef and the guy at the register were nice.  So far the beef taco and carne asada fries are my fav dishes.

Nice to see there are still some old school places left that have not been gentrified or redeveloped.  In the days of my youth when driving into the night was new taco shops like this one were plentiful.  A quick bite to eat at the end of an adventure before the new day dawned.

Kirk of mmm-yoso!!! has visited too.

Back in the day I had a view of powerlines from my window.

  1. Nice lyric quote from The Smiths. They have a big menu, I like how it’s written on a dry erase board.

    1. Thanks! They don’t need no stinking flashing signs.

  2. Definitely an old-school kind of place with options galore and prices that seem to be from the last century in comparison to everywhere else. The menu sort of reminds me of JV’s, a similar kind of place in the Morena area.

    1. I’ve driven by JV’s. I’ll have to stop and try them. I like being able to have a meal for under $10. 🙂
