Hidden Craft

So I was looking for a place to eat downtown as I was on jury duty.  Hidden Craft is right next to the trolley stop.

I walked by in the morning on the way to the courthouse.

I returned at lunch and ordered the halibut fish and chips.  The halibut was battered in a tempura style batter.  I was expecting it to be crunchy but only the thick edges were.

The rest of the batter was sad and lifeless.  I ordered onion rings at Jimmy’s Famous Tavern with this same problem.  The halibut had a nice flaky texture and a very mild flavor.  Tasted like neither the batter or the halibut was seasoned.  Waste of a good piece of halibut.  I should have visited Sally’s Seafood.  Sally’s sea bass fish and chips is coated with a delicious and crunchy southern style batter which accuntuates the flavor of the already tasty sea bass.  French fries were crunchy and well seasoned with salt and pepper.

Water was filtered better than the fridge filter I have at home.  Clean and refreshing water was the highlight of my meal as I was hot after walking from the courthouse.

  1. Bummer your halibut was not tasty. Perhaps their long line of beer taps taste better than their food.

    1. Maybe I should have been drinking instead of eating…

  2. Looks like their menu far exceeds their capabilities and they should scale back to being a water distribution center. I know it’s a little bit of a walk but Hodad’s is my jury duty lunch stop. They usually give you about two hours and I like to think the walk burns off at least 1/10 of the meal ha ha.

    1. Bummer there isn’t a trolley stop next to Hodad’s. After a burger and shake there I’m not gonna be able to do much walking with a food coma.

I’ll vouch for the water if they change their business model.
