Ipo Bbq

Lots of places to eat in Poway.  Looks like Ipo Bbq is the only independent Hawaiian restaurant.

I tried the beef short ribs.  Regular size order came with 3 ribs and 3 scoops of rice.  Rice was moist and had a mild flavor.  Ribs were tender and nicely marinated.  The quality of meat is higher than L & L which I found chewy but I prefer the flavor of Island Style Cafe’s version.

I also tried the lychee slush.  Ice had bigger chunks than I prefer.  Sweet lychee flavor was kinda like lychee but different from eating fresh lychee.

  1. That’s great you liked your food.

    1. It wasn’t bad.

  2. Yum! I love that this is a mom-and-pop place. Lots of mainstream and big-box chains otherwise in that area but some local flavors are appreciated. I’ll have to give them a shot next time I’m around there.

    1. I’m always looking for alternatives to the big chains. Another plus is it’s near the Poway farmers market so I can get some fresh produce before lunch.
