Henry G. Fenton Memorial Bridge

805 Freeway University City San Diego, CA.

I’m a walker at heart as it makes me happy. I love to walk around the neighborhood and admire nature and architecture.

This particular bridge has stood out because of it’s pretty shape, far view points and the fact it’s accessible by foot. I’ve been walking over it for years and never realized whom it was dedicated to until recently. The plaque is placed on the ground near the farthest end. It could have gone unnoticed for many more years had it not been for the weeds being cut away.

The man it’s dedicated to surely deserves his plaque be placed on a raised platform for all to see and remember. Mr. Fenton founded  H.G. Fenton Contract Company in 1906. Still going today it operates as a real estate organization.

I’ll surely continue to appreciate this bridge. During the pandemic lockdown I’d marvel at the abandoned freeway that runs underneath. And the breathtaking views with way less smog.
