Julian Beer Co.

I love visiting Julian.  There is a friendly small town feel here.  We drive up on weekdays when it is somewhat quiet.

I was impressed Julian has its own brewery so Maggie could try the local beer while I sampled the bbq.

Julian Beer Co is the largest business we visited.  We stayed in the main building but there are 2 additional buildings.

The northmost building is the historic Bailey House which was built in 1876 by one of the the founders of Julian Drury D. Bailey.

I tried the bbq ribs and brisket.  Meats were smoked with oak.  Brisket had a smoky aroma and mild flavor from the bark.  I added a bit of bbq sauce which was sweet with a little tangy flavor.
Ribs had a smoky aroma and a delicious sweet and savory dry rub.
2nd visit I tried the half smoked chicken.  Chicken was tender and juicy.  Delicious smoky flavor from smoking and the dry rub was a mix of sweet and savory.  Great tasting chicken.
3rd visit I tried the Flintstone’s rib.  It was huge, tender, and juicy.  Loved how the beef was full of smoky flavor and the dry rub gave it additional savory and sweet flavors.  This was one delicious rib and my favorite item here.
4th visit I tried the smoked wings.  Wings were tender and bursting with smoky flavor.  Bbq sauce added a sweet and spicy element.
Garrett was here each visit and provided excellent service.  On our last visit we found out he was the General Manager.  That explained why he was always here and the hardest working person on the premises.  Equally impressive Garrett is in a cool band https://www.oceannativesband.com/ Ocean Natives.
Julian Beer Co. is one of our favorite spots in Julian.
Very relaxing atmosphere sitting in what was a house from the late 1800’s.
There are relics from those days on the walls.
I watch the wind rustling the leaves outside.  Trees were huge and I loved the shades of green reflecting in the sun. Pink Floyd was playing.
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
