Bristol Farms – La Jolla

Bristol Farms was Albertson’s when I moved to the area.  They remodeled it and they have an ever changing assortment of exotic food now.  It’s an adventure seeing what new items they have.

The ice cream aisle is one of my favorite places to find rare ice creams.  I was excited to see Humphrey Slocombe ice cream.  I’ve been going to San Francisco for years to eat their delicious ice cream.  Sadly I haven’t seen it in awhile.

Matchadoodle had a nice smooth green tea flavor with little bits of snickerdoodle cookie mixed in.  Great combination of flavors!

Honey Graham had a vivid honey flavor with sweet pieces of cookie.
Peach pie had a crunchy crust and a sweet peach filling.
I really enjoyed the buttery flavor of the crust and the peach filling was just the right sweetness.  One of the best supermarket pies I’ve had.
Apple pie had a crunchy bottom crust and flaky top crust.
Filling was full of sweet apple flavor.  I would like less sugar and more apple flavor.  Very fresh.  I checked the expiration date and I had 4 days left.  Very tasty pie.
In the summer they have YUMI organic black seedless watermelon.  I was hesitant to try it as it’s 99 cents/lb.
Most of the time I’ve had good luck with the exotic produce so I bought one.  I chilled it in the fridge for about 6 hours then cut it open.
On the inside I noticed the white part of the rind was thinner than most watermelons I’ve tried.  Very juicy and sweet.  Flavor was amazing.  This is now my favorite watermelon and I’m getting another one after I finish this one.
Lots of different kinds of soda water.

Employees are friendly and helpful.  I have asked the store director many questions and he was very knowledgeable and helpful.  Bristol Farms is one of my favorite places to shop.

  1. That’s great you found more ice cream flavors to enjoy. The watermelon looks delicious!

  2. Bristol Farms has some tasty food!

  3. I would love it if Bristol Farms had more locations in the area. In L.A. there’s one of these on every block. I like shopping here because they have the Whole Food quality but a better selection of stuff you can’t find elsewhere.

  4. Sounds like alot of Bristol Farms!

  5. The black watermelon sounds especially delicious, didn’t realize that they were so sweet. I think I will like that!

    1. I’m gonna go and get another one pretty soon.
