Corner Bakery

The UTC Corner Bakery is an interesting location.  Originally Sears occupied the entire building.  Then Corner Bakery burrowed out a corner of Sears and came into existence.  The most interesting part is now Sears has closed but Corner Bakery is doing great.  I have eaten here a bunch of times.

Chicken Pot Pie seemed like chicken soup with a piece of top crust broken into bits mixed in.  The chicken soup had some flavor which I didn’t care for…  Much prefer the chicken soup at Soup Co in the food court.  The top crust didn’t have great flavor to it either.  I much prefer the traditional chicken pot pie at Marie Calender’s.

BBLT was loaded with 6 pieces of bacon.  Normally I love bacon but 6 pieces is a bit much for me as the sandwich was on the salty side.  I would have loved this sandwich if steak or roast beef was added to mellow out the bacon flavor a bit.

The vanilla bunt cake was not what I expected.  To my eyes it looked like chocolate cake with vanilla icing…  Still this dessert was awesome!  Moist delicious cake with delicious icing.  🙂

CINNAMON CREME CAKE medium was huge and took about 4 days to finish.

Dense like the bundt cake.  Nice sweet base flavor while the swirls of cinnamon gave a burst of cinnamon flavor.  Great cake for cinnamon lovers.

Lemon hand pie had a flaky crust with lemon cream filling.  Nice combination of flavors from the crust which was a bit like apple turnover crust with the lemon flavor a bit like lemonade.  Very good as long as you love lemon flavor.

Sugar cookie was soft while the sugar crystals on top were crunchy.  Good balance between the sweetness and the cookie flavor.  One of my fav soft sugar cookies.

Oatmeal raisin cookie was soft with a nice ratio of raisins to batter.  I liked the sweetness of the raisins which contrasted with the oatmeal flavor.  One of my fav oatmeal cookies.

Snickerdoodle cookie was soft and had sugar crystals on top just like the sugar cookie.  There was an additional cinnamon flavor.

Monster cookie was extremely sweet as the cookie was about half M & M’s.  Too much chocolate for me.

The entrees here are ok but I prefer getting meals at other places in the mall.  The desserts are excellent though.

Apocalypse update:

Sugar cookie was hard and had day old flavor.  Normally vibrant sweet flavors were muted after being left out too long and all that was left was the flavor of the sugar crystals.

Snickerdoodle cookie was just like the sugar cookie.  It could see specks of cinnamon in the dough.  I could barely taste a hint of cinnamon.  Much better tasting when fresh.

Oatmeal raisin cookie was hard and crumbly.  Didn’t taste much oatmeal but the sweet raisins were ok.

It seems the quality control has gone down with the apocalypse.  In the old days they gave away their baked treats at the end of the day to whomever was eating inside.  Now it seems they leave them in the case till sold however long that takes.  I won’t be back until things return to normal.

  1. That’s good you liked the cinnamon bundt cake! Maybe they just need to find somebody to give away their day old bakery items. Bummer you got some.

    1. Or they could have a half off day old sale.
