LouZiana Food

Driving through the night.  Road was deserted.  I use to either stop at Roberto’s, Denny’s, or KFC.  These places and a few other fast food joints were the only options back in my college days.  Now there are so many choices.  I noticed on This Tasty Life blog that LouZiana Food had opened.  I made a note to visit as I love Louisiana style food.  As an added incentive they offer $10 off a $20 purchase if you join their birthday club and visit for your birthday.  🙂

Place was nicely decorated and the owner was very friendly.  I ordered the fried catfish and shrimp combo with fries.  A bit of salt, a bit of spice, and a bit of sweetness.  Batter was thin giving a little crunch and extra flavors but not enough to hide the flavor of the catfish or shrimp.  While I have found good fried shrimp at a bunch of places this is one of the best fried catfish dishes I’ve found.  Cajun fries looked like your normal fast food fry.  They had a nice crunch and were hot and made to order.  Delicious flavor from that seasoning they use.

Beignets were made to order and served hot.  Nice fresh fried aroma, fluffy, and flavor a bit like a donut covered in powdered sugar.

Service was excellent.  Owner was one of the most friendly people I’ve met.  On our 2nd visit she gave us hugs as we left.

Back out on the road it’s not as dark and lonely as it once was.

  3. Ohhhhh freshly made Beignets?!!!!! That sounds so amazingly good on a cold morning right now.
I had fish n chips with friend last night and she always asks for ‘extra crispy’. We did that on a recent to Karl Strauss too.
