Bonchon

I had my first Korean fried chicken experience further down Convoy St.  I loved the crunchy batter and delicious flavors of BB.Q Chicken.  I was sad when they closed as there were no other options for years.  I was excited Bonchon brought their take on Korean fried chicken to Convoy St.
I visited during the soft opening.

Korean fried chicken had a thin crunchy batter with a savory soy garlic sauce brushed on.  Chicken underneath was tender and a bit juicy.  I ordered the combo with wings and drumsticks.  Both were delicious but I prefer wings over drumsticks.
On another visit I tried the Korean fried chicken with no sauce.  Batter was very crunchy and the chicken moist.  Nice fried flavor to the chicken.  Having tried the wings with sauce and without sauce I think I’d love the wings with just a small amount of the soy garlic sauce.
Potstickers had a crunchy shell with the savory soy garlic sauce brushed on.
I like the flavor of the pork filling.
Bulgogi fried rice featured very tender and flavorful bulgogi.  I loved the bulgogi, eggs, and rice but I’d prefer less veggies and more meat.
Bulgogi plate had a good amount of bulgogi.  Very tender beef full of bulgogi flavor.  I also enjoyed the mild flavor from the mushrooms.
Staff was very nice and checked often to see if we needed water or anything else.
Beer on tap.

I was surprised by how big a menu Bonchon has.  I thought Bonchon was just a Korean fried chicken joint but there is much more to try here.
Parking lot is full at lunch time.

  1. I can almost smell the chicken! Looks super yummy!

    1. It’s good chicken!

  2. I thought the wings here were pretty good Soo. I was surprised that the place wasn’t very busy on my visits as well.

    1. Maybe the full parking lot scared people off. I went for late lunch and there were a few spots in the lot.

  3. I prefer wings over drums too. Glad you were able to try other items here. This place still on my list to try but yeah, this parking lot is terrible.

    1. I complain about the Convoy parking but it’s way worse downtown. Once they close Horton Plaza it will all be paid parking. That’s cool you like the best part of the chicken!
