Cowboy Star

I parked next to where I lived when I was born.  There use to be a dirt lot next to the old apartment building.  I watched as they paved the dirt and built an auto repair place.  Now all that’s left is a parking lot.  Downtown is being consumed by huge apartment towers but some of the old buildings I remember are still here.  I didn’t go down 11th Ave in the old days.

Cowboy Star looks like it re-purposed an old building.  Outside is new and shiny.
Butcher shop was closed.
Inside is a mix of modern and homages to old cowboys.
There is a short bar where you can watch as your meal is cooked.
Menu has many steak options.  Miyazaki filet for $215 was tempting but I go for my usual the ribeye.
Parkerhouse rolls were fluffy with a bit of salt glazed on top.  The resulting flavor was a little bit salty and a little bit of a buttery bread flavor.  One of the best Parkerhouse rolls I’ve had.
Fries were full of potato flavor.

Ribeye steak was wet aged and about 14oz.  Tender and juicy it pretty much melted in my mouth.  Delicious flavor from the char, beef and seasoning.  I usually get my Prime quality steaks from Flemings but this one is more tender and flavorful.

Complimentary soda water with a lime was bubbly and refreshing.
Vanilla creame brûlée had a hardened sugary crust and creamy vanilla flavored cream underneath.  Berries were fresh and full of fruity flavor.  Taste great much like versions I’ve tried at Flemings and Ruth Chris.
I’ve been to many steak places and there are a few I really love.  Service was excellent here.  This is my favorite spot to get a Prime ribeye steak.  Maggie had a great birthday celebration this day.
Walking back to the car I passed by where our Chinese laundry use to be.  Those were the good old days when I patrolled the block on my trike.
