Streetcar Merchants

Each time I hear the name Streetcar Merchants I envision the trolley cars in San Francisco filled with merchants selling their wares.

This place has their very own corner restaurant in North Park, employ authentic Louisiana recipes and use only Mary’s Free Range Air Chilled Chicken.

First time I visited I tried out a sweet brioche doughnut. These are not your typical Dunkin Donut melt away in your mouth in two seconds flat. The dough is very different, more dense, kinda like a biscuit married a croissant slash sourdough. One brioche doughnut is quite large and filling. So if you order something along with it, you may not be able to finish.

Next visit I tried the fried chicken. Super moist, crunchy and flavorful. Definitely worth the wait every time. They offer the option of calling ahead to order for pick up if you have a limited amount of time.

My most recent visit I tried the cornbread waffle. Absolutely excellent texture, flavor and crunchiness. The melted butter and maple syrup makes this waffle truly magnificent.

Before syrup and butter..
Must fill every nook and cranny with butter and syrup. :>)

People watching is at a premium here. Loads of them walking by, plenty of dogs as well. Nobody seems to mind when somebody brings their dog in, as long as they sit on the outside patio area. Cool.
