Jimmy Wong’s Golden Dragon Asian Bistro

Doctor Manhattan:  Perhaps the world is not made. Perhaps nothing is made. A clock without a craftsman. It’s too late. Always has been, always will be…too late.

I came too late.  9 years late.  Jimmy Wong’s Golden Dragon was remodeled in 2006 and renamed Asian Bistro.  I was hoping to try some old school Chinese food but now it’s a modern Thai place.

Fried potstickers.

Fried potstickers.

Fried potstickers had a crunchy shell and delicious chicken filling.  A bit smaller than Khan’s Cave potstickers but with a similiar flavor.
Won ton soup with duck.

Won ton soup with duck.

Won ton soup with duck.  I chose the duck broth and it had a delicious duck flavor.  Egg noodles had a good flavor whick complimented the duck broth.  Won tons were made with shrimp and had an excellent mix of flavor from the thin wrapper and shrimp.  This dish goes in my top 5 list of won ton noodle soups in San Diego.
BBQ chicken was tender and had a nice smoky flavor and a little bit of a spicy flavor.
Mango dessert

Mango dessert

Mango desert had texture like jello and a sweet mango flavor.

I didn’t find what I was looking for but there are some finely crafted dishes here.  🙂

La Especial Norte

Immortan Joe: Do not, my friends, become addicted to water. It will take hold of you, and you will resent its absence!

Ready for Xmas.

Ready for Xmas.

Walking in it’s hard not to notice the bright bold happy colors and decorations throughout the restaurant. We were seated immediately by a window on the right side, my view on the left was a nice mural wall painting of the sea including dolphins and tropical fish.

Yelp Elite Event blue Point Coastal

“He lept for Aza Chorn, fast as a cheetah; as a mamba; as an ink-black thunderbolt. Yet, when they brag amongst themselves, the cats and snakes and sheets of lightning use one ultimate comparison, albeit sparingly. Fast as a warpsmith.”

Old brick building.

Old brick building.

There use to be more of these old brick buildings downtown.  Lends a sense of history to the atmosphere.  We were warmly greeted by the manager and hostess.  Hostess said our booth was her fav in the house.

Greystone Steakhouse 658 5th Ave, San Diego, CA 92101

Cranberry sage prosecco and white wine.

Tiffany happily greeted us at the entrance and directed us upstairs, she is really great! It was hard not to notice all the holiday lights, bows, ornaments and the large wreath adorning the center. Very nicely done with an artistic eye tying the colors into the overall theme. Each table had a small glass vase complete with candle and red holy berries.

Golden Donut

Old men sit and read
Day becomes night, donuts sigh
7pm and all a goodnight.

golden.donut._1144Golden Donut is located in a sleepy old mall.  I usually just go to the Rite Aid to maintain my supply of Thifty’s ice cream.  Place is nice and quiet.  It is also the only donut shop in the area.
