Seaside Buffet

Old tree falls in wood
Seeds sprout in lush fertile soil
Circle continues.

Use to be East Buffet.

Use to be East Buffet.

I visited a few times with my mom back when this place was East Buffet.  She liked the variety of choices and seeing the family eat till we got full. I always looked forward to the mongolian grill.  The big family get togethers have gotten fewer are far between without her.  This has been my first time back since she went with us.  Inside has been remodeled.  Looks really nice.

REI

You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you will never know how soon it will be too late.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Sometimes I have a bad habit of waiting till the last minute to do things.  I had been meaning to buy Maggie some winter gloves as she had been complaining about her hands being cold.  I was distracted by my kid who was visiting from China.  It wasn’t till Jan 4 I had a free morning.  We looked over the selection at REI.  The gloves were pricier than other places but I did have a member dividend I needed to use.  Sadly when I tried to use it at the cashier it turned out the dividend expired Jan 3.  Cashier said I could try asking customer service for an extension.  After getting through the long customer service line I was informed they can’t do anything at the store level.  After a call to the customer service line I was informed they don’t give extensions but the funds will be well spent.

La Costa Farms 1911 Saxony Rd, Encinitas, CA 92024

First discovered La Costa Farms not too long ago, it quickly became my favorite place to look for starter plants, bread, jam, flowers or fruit. They have an abundance of fresh produce, a large selection of breads, interesting variations of jams and jellies, various seasonal flower arrangements and potted plants for starters. I discover something new on each visit.

Chung Hing

Reddish honey glaze
Shines and sparkles like red sun
Sweet scent of roast pork.
Almost closing time.

Almost closing time.

When I think of Miramar Rd I think of fast food joints and 2 Chinese buffets of questionable quality.  I found Chung Hing on Yelp and wondered why it was so highly rated.

Niederfrank’s Ice Cream

When asked by an anthropologist what the Indians called America before the white man came, an Indian said simply, ‘Ours.’

My kid was a climber.  She loved climbing on the bars and beams in gymnastics.  She loved climbing the rocks in rock climbing class.  She loved climbing the Indian that use to be in the front of the store.

Blue Point Coastal 565 5th Ave, San Diego, CA 92101

Imagine time standing still

Your past present and future all coming to a screeching halt

The door opens

People in white dress shirts and blue ties greet you warmly

Guiding you to the perfect table

Lighting is low, ambiance just the perfect note

Sitting down you feel the stress of life leave your bones

Warm inviting aromas greet your nose

Beautiful colors of the wine, fish swimming in tank, fill you with anticipation of the meal.
