Fred’s Diner

Posted on December 31, 2018by Soo

I think I watched all the episodes of The Flintstone’s when I was a kid.  It was cool seeing humans and dinosaurs in hilarious adventures.  I was surprised to see Fred’s Diner on the way to the Grand Canyon.

Winter Wonderland – Scottsdale

Posted on December 28, 2018December 28, 2018by Soo

It was Christmas Eve in Scottsdale and we were looking to celebrate the season.  A light show sounded good this cold winter night.  Music was playing.  Bright lights lit up this one block.  Hot chocolate and marshmallows were for sale.  A castle was the centerpiece.  Snow was falling.  There was a backyard scene from the […]

Grand Canyon National Park

Posted on December 24, 2018August 21, 2020by Soo

There is a sense of age here.  Rocks at the bottom are 2000 million years old while the top layer is only 270 million years old.  Different layers of the canyon reflect different colors.  The effect is lovely.

Posted on October 4, 2018October 5, 2018by Soo

Long ago I rode on the shoulder of a giant.  Up high I saw things so differently than when close to the earth.  A moment in time that lives on in my memory. Now a photo in the Chinese Laundry exhibit in this museum.  My parents had moved from China and that was the family […]

Comic Con International San Diego – part 2

Posted on July 30, 2018by Soo

My heart was racing as my trembling hands operated the controls.  Metal claw was shaking wildly as it moved above the Ugly Dolls.

Comic-Con International San Diego – part 1

Posted on July 26, 2018July 26, 2018by Soo

When I was a kid I saved up money from mowing lawns and other odd jobs to go to Comic Con.  My first was at the El Cortez Hotel.  I was a huge room filled a bunch of guys with boxes of bagged comics.  Much has changed since my first con.  The Golden Age was […]

I started day 2 of my Del Mar Fair adventure at Reno’s Fish & Chips.  You can read about Day 1 here.  This time I went with my old favorite fried cod and zucchini.
