Sportsman’s Seafood
When I saw Sportsman’s Seafood right off a sport fishing dock I was hoping for seafood fresh off a boat.
Great view of Mission Bay.

There was a sign in front of the ordering counter for the catch of the day. I could not resist.
I ordered the sea bass dinner with fries and veggies. Veggies were cooked with salt and pepper plus olive oil. Flavor was fine. Fries were crispy and I loved the fried potato flavor.
Seabass had little flavor other than the salt and pepper seasoning. I’ve had fish from out of the water the same day and this sea bass was not like I remember.
2nd visit. I ordered the halibut and chips.
Fries were crispy and I liked the fried potato flavor.
Halibut was coated in a batter that had a nice crunch and I liked the light seasoning which tasted mostly like salt. Halibut was dense and on the dry side. I used up my lemon wedge giving it some lemon flavor.
I liked the flavor of the halibut but I prefer a more moist piece of fish. Point Loma Seafood is my fav spot for fried halibut.
Staff was nice and got my order out quick.
