Thrifty Ice Cream @ Rite Aid

In the days of my youth I visited Thrifty often to get ice cream.

There was a great selection of flavors at the counter with many flavors not available in the rectangular half gallon flavors.

One of my favorites was Circus Animal Cookie which featured Circus Animal cookies with a sweet cream base.  It was always a difficult decision whether I could eat 2 scoops or just 1.

My current favorite is vanilla with orange sherbet mixed in which is called Cali Delight.

Love the mix of orange and vanilla flavors.

Thrifty Ice Cream is among my favorite ice creams you can buy at a store.  I’m gonna miss this place.  Thrifty was bought by Rite Aid in 1996.  Now Rite Aid is in bankruptcy and closing all it’s stores.  Rite Aid was very convenient in addition to having delicious and affordable  ice cream as you can do some shopping while you wait for your prescription.

I will miss the awesome friendly and helpful staff + the assistant manager who I talked with about the delicious ice cream.  Looks like the end is near.
