Formally know as the Museum of Man. The Museum of Us reopened in August of 2020. Their new mission: ‘Inspiring human connections by exploring the human experience.’

This was my first visit since the complete overhaul. It’s apparent they are trying to encompass voices & history from all walks of life, past and present.

History is neither convenient nor pleasant in this case. Many exhibits here depict the unvarnished truth. Hopefully shining a light on the truth will perpetuate meaningful change.

Gotta love the museums goal: ‘To celebrate the shared human experience through multicultural perspectives, to spark dialogue, self-reflection, and human connections.’

I did not see the entire museum on this visit, however I was deeply moved by many areas. It was very interesting to read the history and traditions of beer making throughout many cultures including the Inca. The Maya continue to amaze me with their history. The PostSecret community art project was impressive simply by the sheer numbers of people responding. Also the founder Frank Warren, uses his platform to raise awareness and funds for mental health organizations and suicide prevention. The Hapa project was very moving given the large gap in time between the entries for each participant. It was intriguing to see the difference in thought.
