Ed Fernandez Restaurant Birrieria and Yelp invited me to try two birria tacos. The tacos are street taco size so I also ordered a Taco Tatemado.
Birrea taco came with 2 crispy corn tortillas. I loved the texture and the mild corn flavor. Birria was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. My favorite birrea tacos.
Taco Tatemado came with 2 crispy corn tortillas. The texture of the meat was crispy and the flavor not as bold as the birria taco. This was a very tasty taco but the birria taco had more flavor.
This place was busy Saturday at 11am with the first parking lot full and the secondary lot filling up. Line moved quickly. Staff was friendly and helpful. Thanks Ed Fernandez and Yelp CM Hannah for the cool event.

The best birria in San Diego hands down! And I’m so happy they’ve re-opened dine in. They kept it closed for years and did take out only so I wonder if it’s to compete better with La Central around the corner (one of the brothers broke off and opened the new restaurant using pretty much the same recipe).
The dine in was great. :-). We will have to try La Central one of these days. I’m interested in the birria ramen.
They only closed the dine in option due to covid unfortunately.
The birria con nervio (tendon) along with the consomme is the way to go here Soo! My favorite birria in San Diego by far.
