Pelicana Chicken

It wasn’t so long ago I was eating chicken wings here and the place was called Urban Eats.  The chicken wings were not that good but the beef short ribs were delicious.  Now there is a big Pelicana Chicken sign outside.

Inside it looks much the same.

I ordered the original chicken wings.  Batter was crunchy and had a fried flavor along with some seasoning which gave it a salty flavor.  Chicken was tender and juicy.  Loved the flavor.

Water was filtered and was clean and refreshing.  No more complimentary soda water.

2nd visit I tried the crunchy wings.  Batter was crunchy and nicely seasoned.  Chicken was tender and juicy.  I the mix of flavors from the fried and seasoned batter and fresh chicken.  While the original chicken wings were delicious I liked the crunchy wings a bit more as I loved the crunchy batter and the flavor was a bit stronger.

3rd visit I tried the half chicken original style.
Batter was thick and crunchy.  Batter was too thick in parts making the excess batter gummy.
Chicken was tender, juicy, and well marinated with a soy flavor.  Whole chicken was good but the crunchy wings are my favorite menu item here.

Hope this place doesn’t vanish into history as it’s predecessor Urban Eats did.  I like the wings here as much as I do the wings at Cross Street.  Staff was friendly and provided good service.  So many choices now for Korean fried chicken.  🙂
